This blog offers an insight into my aspirations, inspirations, concepts, materials, methods, thoughts and outcomes.I approach textiles in a drawing and painterly way pushing the boundaries of traditional fine art practice always aiming to produce something important, inspiring and thought provoking. "The nature of the truly creative is rebellion-against what has been, against habit, the norm, our stamina and the limitation of the 'known'. Art is a quest...it is a path to the unknown". BECOMING ART
Artist Lynette Thomas from Artkore Photography (http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/Artkore-Photography/301339831949) had the idea to "bring my dolls to life in my studio".
The photo's are an exciting starting point for a new body of work Becoming Art. Studies will begin with drawing on board with mixed media developing into larger works - I envisage a series of self portraits in a variety of mediums that are largely confessional.

Substance - Contemporary Textiles Exhibition
18th - 28th May 2011
Opening night Saturday 21st May at 6pm
The Post Modern Gallery, Theatre Square, Swindon, SN1 1QN.
I am organising and participating in SUBSTANCE; a curated group show seeking to capture the essence of an important 20th Century female figure.
The exhibition will provide innovative, colourful art that explores pattern and surface quality considering the historical and social aspects of textiles by using a diverse range of contemporary materials such as wire, wood, metal and paint alongside stitch, cloth, knitting, weaving and lace work.
The aim is to reveal a sense of self and Identity finding connections between the tactile and touching quality of textiles to express emotion.
The intention of SUBSTANCE is to highlight the importance of textile art and promote local artists.
